Everyone starts WolfTeam Legacy as a Recruit with 5,000 Gold, a one-time welcome package and a shelf of classic arenas to learn. That is a friendlier start than most private servers ever hand out, yet new players still lose their first week to the same handful of avoidable errors. Here are the ten we see most often, each with its quick fix. If you prefer the positive version, the first-week roadmap on this blog walks the same ground as a day-by-day plan.
1. Skipping the welcome Gift Box
The in-game Gift Box holds a one-time welcome package: the C-95 SL rifle for 7 days plus 10,000 Gold. It is the biggest head start you will ever be handed, and it disappears if ignored — gift deliveries keep a 90-day claim window. Log in once, open the box, and your first week of renting is already paid for. The 7-day timer starts when you claim, not when the account is created, so there is no need to rush and no excuse to forget.
2. Treating bot matches as income
AI-Deathmatch is this server's free training ground: create a room, pick Arrival, click AI ADD on an empty opposing slot, choose EASY and press START. What it is not is a paycheck. Training does not award Gold, GP, WC or goal progress, by design, so earned progression stays meaningful. Use bot rooms to warm up your aim and learn a map, then join eligible PvP for actual earnings. Unsure whether your room counts? /matchstatus tells you straight away.
3. Leaving matches early
Rewards come from eligible PvP matches, and eligibility has firm rules: opposing teams differ by at most one player at start, you remain until completion, and you spend at least 60 seconds in the match after spawning. Quit after two deaths and you forfeit the tier — a full eligible match pays up to 3,600 Gold, 2,500 GP and 30 WC, with reduced tiers for partial participation. Daily and weekly goals (3 eligible matches for a +1,500 Gold daily bonus, 10 for a +5,000 Gold weekly bonus at the time of writing) count completed eligible matches only. If a reward seems missing, check /progress; a finished reward can take a few seconds to appear.
4. Renting everything, owning nothing
Gold buys permanent gear; WC funds experiments and comfort. Beginners often burn their opening 15,000 Gold on 1-day and 7-day rentals and end the week with a full inventory and nothing that lasts. The classic fix: make your first real purchase a permanent primary weapon you actually like. Rent before you commit if you want to test a gun first, but treat rentals as tasters, not as a loadout.
5. Buying comfort before a weapon base
Boosters, instant respawn items and cosmetic extras feel great, and the shop's +30% boosters plus active event days genuinely speed up earning. None of it helps a Recruit with a starter pistol, though. Build the permanent weapon base first; add boosters and respawn items once your matches already pay for themselves.
6. Looking for bots on every map
Not every arena has AI opponents. Bot navigation exists for Foundry and Mansion in AI-Deathmatch, with Arrival as the classic training room — the frozen city Deathmatch arena, for example, is humans only. Queue a bot room on a map without AI support and nothing spawns. Check the bot map guide on this blog before scheduling your warm-up.
7. Going AFK and ignoring the ready-up
Rooms idle-kick — about five minutes in a room, two minutes during combat — and matches cannot start until players ready up. /readycheck shows who is still preparing, and the host starts when everyone is set. Going AFK burns a slot other players are waiting for, and an abandoned match earns nobody anything.
8. Fighting the sensitivity keys
Half of all "my aim feels off" reports trace back to the [ and ] keys: those brackets adjust mouse sensitivity in game, and on a Turkish keyboard they sit on the Ğ and Ü keys. If your sensitivity jumps while you type in chat or aim, that is why. The Options menu exposes the same settings in plain form — set it once and stop hunting for invisible keys.
9. Trusting scams or sharing credentials
This server sells nothing. "Power is earned. Never sold." is the whole economic model — no currency sales, no paid boosts, no login streaks. So any site, message or player offering free Gold is lying, and no legitimate administrator will ever ask for your password, session cookie or launcher token. Keep credentials private; there is no automatic password recovery, so a leaked account means asking the server administrator for help. When reporting a problem, include the mode, map, action and approximate time — never your secrets.
10. Never trying the wolf half of the game
WolfTeam's signature is right there in the name. Every round you can pick a wolf mutation with keys 1-7 — guardian forms soak damage, ghost forms hide, and each has its own role — then shift forms mid-fight. New players who stay human-only are playing half the game and skipping its best weapon: surprise. Try one new mutation per bot warm-up and learn what each form is actually for.
The one-line version
Claim the gift, train against bots, earn in PvP, own your weapons, stay until the end, and never share your password. Do the opposite of this list and your first week will fund your first permanent arsenal. The /guide page collects the official rules, and the guides on this blog cover every system mentioned here in depth.
